Crone

Excerpt from Crone poem with illustration of elderly woman
A crone came to visit me
Whilst wearing my own face
She gazed around knowingly
Familiar with this space

Her lines were mine deepened
Having smiled more times than I
Her eyes were mine weakened
Having stared fate in the eye

She had no words to share
Yet her love radiated
I couldn’t help but stare
Rapt by the hope she fated

Once she faded away
I still felt her in my heart
Together in all ways
We are one never to part

I’ll take my own outing
To visit my childhood home
Find the girl self-doubting
Show her she’s never alone
